  2. Yes, that is the mRNA sequence, but what does it say?

    1. I am having a hard time with this assignment could you possibly take two minutes & explain to me how you got this?
      Thanks

  3. I'm not the teacher and haven't been graded on this myself, but with that caveat: This is what I think we are supposed to do. Each word in the list the teacher gave us has a 3 letter codon code. You make a sentence with the words, then translate it into the code. You now have the mRNA code. Next you add a start and stop codon the the beginning and end respectively. You then convert the mRNA to DNA where G becomes C, and C becomes G, A becomes T, and U becomes A. Now you have your sentence. Now add some junk DNA codons to the front and rear, double check and post it. That's the first half Second half. You find another students posted DNA and decode it and post the answer. This is the inverse of what you just did. You copy their DNA sequence. Look for the start codon. Convert your DNA letters back to mRNA. T becomes A, C becomes G, G becomes C but remember A becomes U. Now you should have your sentence in mRNA. Translate each 3 letter codon back to the words in the list to figure out what your fellow student wrote and post the answer. I hope this helps.
P.S. I would really encourage you to email the teacher. I have found her to respond quickly and be helpful and I'm not really sure I have this right!

  4. The special start codon to adapt is to evolve and to evolve is to adapt stop codon pizza about.

  5. Yes, your absolutely right, and everything past the stop codon is junk (food) DNA. O.K . Bad joke about pizza.

  6. :-) I liked the bad joke.

Thank you for returning with the correction, Quisha. All you needed was the sentence itself between the start and stop codons.

Good code, Pans Sapiens. Interesting to decode. Here is my decode for reference:

    DNA: ACCCCTTACAACGCCGAAAACGCTAGTAACGCTGAAAACGCCATCTGAAGC
    RNA: UGGGGAAUGUUGCGGCUUUUGCGAUCAUUGCGACUUUUGCGGUAGACUUCG
Triplets: AUG UUG CGG CUU UUG CGA UCA UUG CGA CUU UUG CGG UAG
(start) To adapt is to evolve and to evolve is to adapt. (stop)
